Post-EVLT, the extent of bruising can vary as each individual reacts differently to the treatment. Generally, some patients may experience light to moderate bruising along the treated vein. This is a normal part of the healing process and typically resolves within a few days to weeks. 

After your vein treatment, it’s crucial to follow specific post-procedure care to ensure optimal recovery. Initially, you’ll be assisted with compression stockings, which are to be worn continuously for the first three days and then during the daytime for the following 10 days. It’s important to maintain regular movement and resume most of your normal activities, including work, from the next day. 

However, avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and exposure to hot environments like saunas or hot baths for two weeks. Protect treated areas from sun exposure using SPF 30 or higher for a month. 

Post-treatment, you might experience some hardness or tenderness in the treated vein, which is a normal part of the healing process and may persist for several months. Manage any discomfort with Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen as needed. If you experience significant discomfort or have concerns, contact the clinic immediately. Follow-up appointments, essential for assessing progress and any additional treatments, will be scheduled based on whether one or both legs were treated. Remember to bring your compression stockings to all follow-up visits.

Vein stripping, EVLT and VenaSeal offer different approaches to varicose vein treatment. Traditional vein stripping is much more invasive, involving removing problematic veins through surgery and anesthetics. Conversely, EVLT and VenaSeal are minimally invasive and are lauded as being much more comfortable than stripping. EVLT uses targeted laser energy through a small incision to close off veins, ideal for larger veins. VenaSeal uses a medical adhesive injected directly into veins with precision, suitable for various large vein sizes.

Actual price is based on a consultation – every patient is unique. That said, typical price ranges (and typical number of treatments) are as follows: 

• Consult is covered with a physician’s referral; or if no doctor’s referral, then $150.
• EVLT: All pricing based on personal consultation, but starts at $3,575 for one leg, $5,975 for both legs. Procedure includes ultrasound assessment, stocking(s), three follow up appointments per leg that include sclerotherapy touch ups*.

The side effects of EVLT can vary, as each individual’s response to the treatment is unique. Generally, patients may experience temporary symptoms such as bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort around the treated area. As time progresses, there may be a feeling of ‘tightness’ where the vein was treated – which means it is healing and this is normal. These side effects are typically short-lived, reflecting the body’s natural healing process.
