Capacitive Radiofrequency (CRF) technology is used in thermage to safely heat your skin’s underlayers and the web of collagen in the inner layer, causing an immediate tightening as well as improved tone and texture. Unlike lasers, thermage will work on all skin types.
A Thermage treatment takes anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours depending on the area being treated and is done without general anesthetic. Lighter pain medications are used to make the procedure more tolerable. You may feel a slight heating sensation as the radiofrequency energy is delivered to your tissues. This means that your collagen is being stimulated. You are back at your normal activities the next day as there is basically no down-time. Your skin may appear a little red for 2 days or so.
People who respond best to Thermage have a moderate amount of loose skin. If your skin is too loose, the results will not be that obvious.
Possible side effects include skin redness, blisters, and some swelling. After the procedure a good sunscreen is recommended as the rays from the sun are what caused most of the skin looseness in the first place.
